Bringing Birthday Joy to Kids Who Need It Most: ATI Community Impact Project

The ATI Foundation recently supported a community impact project led by ATI employee Dimanche Brewer to assemble 300 birthday bags for children experiencing homelessness. The initiative benefited The Birthday Party Project, a nonprofit that brings joy to children in shelters nationwide by hosting birthday celebrations.

“Working for ATI means being part of something bigger than yourself,” said Brewer. “Not only did our team benefit the nonprofit and the families they serve, but working side-by-side toward a shared goal strengthens trust, fuels collaboration, and reminds us we can accomplish so much more together than we ever could alone.”

Each bag was age-appropriate and gender-neutral, filled with items like sunglasses, bubbles, slime, toy cars, mini teddy bears, slinkies, and pop-it fidget toys. The Birthday Party Project distributes between 750 and 1,000 bags each month to children ages 1–18 across the country.

An estimated 2.5 million children currently live in shelters across the United States. Many families face housing insecurity due to rising rents, medical crises, or other unforeseen challenges. While shelter stays are often temporary, milestones such as birthdays can easily be overlooked. The Birthday Party Project helps restore a sense of celebration and normalcy by recognizing these important moments.

This effort reflects the ATI Foundation’s mission to remove barriers and build stronger communities. Through the Foundation, ATI employees can request up to $1,000 to support charitable volunteer projects in the communities where they live and work.

I am so grateful to Dimanche and her team for piloting this program. People power is what makes the ATI Foundation different. Funding matters, but it’s the energy, skills, and commitment of our employees and partners that turn ideas into action. When people step up, real change happens.
