Conflict resolution program expansion changes lives

When students facing challenges are given the tools, support, and encouragement they need to succeed, remarkable things can happen.

Soul Harvesters Outreach Ministry’s (SHOM) Conflict Resolution Program is proving just that. Through mentorship, conflict resolution training, and relationship-building, the program is helping students overcome obstacles and create positive change in their lives. The ATI Foundation partnered with SHOM to expand the program from a 12-week program to the last the entire school year for the first time ever.

Sylvia Evans, SHOM Executive Director, describes the impact of expanding the program year-round.

The results speak for themselves. The 2025–2026 school year was SHOM’s most successful yet, demonstrating that sustainable change happens when support is consistent throughout the year.

Thirty-five (35) students from Daniel Jenkins Academy, an alternative high school serving students with behavioral and academic challenges, participated in the program. Of those students:

  • 11 students transitioned back to their home schools (none had to repeat the program!) which is the highest percentage of students since the program started.

  • All 5 seniors enrolled in the program successfully graduated from high school, overcoming obstacles that often prevent at-risk youth from reaching this important milestone.

  • One senior is pursuing higher education! They applied to and were accepted into Trident Technical College's Pre-Nursing Program.

While the program celebrated significant success at Daniel Jenkins Academy, it also made meaningful progress with middle school students Liberty Hill Academy, a specialized alternative and transition school. The program uncovered that middle school students need additional support at home to reinforce what they learned in the program. As a result, next school year Soul Harvesters Outreach Ministry will strengthen family engagement by increasing parent communication, expanding support services, and introducing a parent coach.

These aren’t just statistics—they’re stories of hope, resilience, and transformation. Every number represents a child who learned to believe in themselves, a family that found support, or a student who now sees a future they never thought was possible. That’s the true impact of this program, and it’s why we’re so grateful for partners like the ATI Foundation who believe in investing in the lives of young people.
